Can not edit theme php page through Apperance Editor

  • Hi all, I am Rudi, a newbie, from Indonesia.

    I wanted to update my theme page (php) through “Appearance Editor”. There always a message “You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes.”. I have made my folder in WP-Content into 755 and files inside WP-content into 644 in theme folder. Still no work.

    My question is I have 3 username: 1 from wordpress (admin), 1 from hosting, 1 from the database for wordpress. I read https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_File_Permissions and got confused a little. there is User, Group, World. Any idea which username is for User or Group so that i can edit the theme php page from “Appereance Editor”??
