  • Did you make a MySQL database and add a user to it? I have a tutorial here: https://www.gnshosting.com/tutorials.php if you need help with this. ??

southerngal is right – I got the same error.
I don’t think the install read.me comes right out and says you have to create these, though.

I am using a freeeservers. com site which I pay for and recently upgraded to a cgi access and playing with this stuff what is the mysql database?

checked with freeservers and of course they want me to pay them more to figure this out so i guess im gonna give up for now I have a database and they say I cannot create more so until i learn more I guess I just gonna give it up. ITs fun learning this stuff but this is beyond me . Dontch just hate when you have an idea and can’t see it thru

    Hi JackyAJT,
Don’t give up yet. If you have a database then you should be able to use WordPress. You just need to set the correct values in wp-config.php
Hopefully, freeservers.com will have told you the name of your database, username and password.

this is the latest error i am getting

    me = very nice person
I can create a database on my server and let you access it from the WP script on your server (for free of course). Email me: [email protected]

I agree you are nice and I do thank you for the offer. I have over 500MB of web sapce that i pay them for so would rather get it working right on my server. I do appreciate the offer though.

There are appropriate questions to ask them.
But we gotta know some about your setup.
Do you create the MySQL database accounts, or do they?
If you do, can you create a user to connect to that account?
In your wp-config, are you using ‘localhost’ or something else for the server variable?
Does your ISP have any online documentation about their services?

Ok just got it installed finally I had to change the local host as it would allow it as it was . so im this far its installed now how do I access and get it on the page I want it asked me the url and I used the same as ive seen others use so just got to figure that part out or if i goofed i have to figure how to fix it but I am getting there

If you finished the install process completely, it gave you the randomly-generated admin password and a link to the login page.

    Thread Starter jackyajt

    (@jackyajt)

yes I got that far and logged in ok but I want it to show on a page as a daily journal as to where the truck is so Im still figuring that part out

    That’s pretty simple. ??
Figure out what you want the daily journal’s page name to be [e.g. https://yourdomain.tld/dailyjournal.php%5D and rename the included index.php file to dailyjournal.php or whatever you want.
Then, go into the options menu and make sure that WordPress knows all that information. The Options menus are pretty well-written, but if you need help, search around here, read the online documents, and ask. ??
