I’ve set up “WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Payment Gateway” a couple times before in order to enable PayPal Express.

During setup, I’ve always gone into the WooCommerce > Settings > Payments tab, and deactivated WooCommerce’s native PayPal Standard option, and then activated the “PayPal Checkout” option created by this plugin.

Is this necessary? Could I leave both on? (On the odd chance that if there’s a problem with PayPal Express, PayPal Standard might work instead?)

Or is it harmful to have them both toggled on at the same time? (eg: some kind of interference between PayPal Standard & PayPal Express).

(Apologies if this question’s been asked before.)

On further investigation, I’ve deactivated the native PayPal Standard option.

With PayPal Express, customers can pay right from the Cart page, saving a click to the Checkout page.

If PayPal Standard is activated, customers click on the Checkout button, and have to fill out their name, address, etc. Customers might abandon their purchase while having to do so.

PayPal Express only yields a much better sales funnel.

    Hi @jpecsenyicki!

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this one.

In theory, both PayPal Standard and PayPal Checkout work together and you won’t face any technical issues. But you did the right thing with just keeping PayPal Checkout – as it has all the functionality that PayPal standard already has, and offers a more modern, straightforward, and faster checkout process for the customer.

PayPal Standard, in comparison, is just a basic integration.

I’m marking this as Resolved for now, but if you come across any troubles with the extension, let us know. We’re happy to assist.
