Can remove dependent products from Basket

I’ve set up a product to be dependent on another and all the rules work until I view basket. Here, I can then remove the main product (by clicking on the red x) leaving the discounted dependent product in the basket. I can then purchase a product without needing the other product. Is there any way I can stop this from happening? Shouldn’t the conditioning continue right through the process?
