Can results be random instead of alphabetical?

Interesting thought. I think it could be done, but it is actually easier to sort by distance (normal) or alphabetical (enhanced results add-on). I’ll put it on my “wish list” of items but there are a quite a few other things higher on the list that have a lot more “votes”.

If other people show an interest on this thread it will move up the list, but right now it is a 6-9 month backlog so don’t hold up any projects waiting for that feature.

Although not exactly what clifflange is asking, I think it is a closely related request.

I need the search results to appear in order of distance but with certain locations that are tagged as ‘special’ appearing at the top of the list, even if there are other (non-special) locations that are closer.

Is that something that could be possible? I would be willing to pay for the development of this if the price is reasonable?

Featured listings will take some work including database, backend lookup, and admin interface updates. It will be at least a few days of work but I can offer a single-day rate as at least two people have asked for it in the past 6 months. It is something I would add to the “Enhanced Results” add-on.
