I added the shortcode to a basic text/html widget in the sidebar as I’d like your stories to show there (image, blurb and link). Unfortunately, it opens your content there, as well.

Is there a way to get the content itself to open in the main content frame instead of in the sidebar, yet continue displaying the various items in the sidebar? Otherwise, not quite sure if widget will be very useful, as most places you place widgets in WP are not places that actual post content would go.

Perhaps there’s a way you can add an advanced shortcode option to your plugin so a user can select where content will open/display – like you can do using html code for opening links with the link “target” attribute?

    Hi,
Can you provide us more information, in your sidebar you use:

    1. WordPress text widget with our section shortcode
    2. PlayBuzz recommendation widget

    ?

    1. Yes, WP text widget with your code
    2. Using this code: [playbuzz-section tag=”funny,sweet,adorable,cute,heartfelt,kids”]

Try to replace the “Text Widget” with “PlayBuzz Recommendations widget”. To open the items in your site, you need to create a page that contains PlayBuzz section, and then set this page as the destination links in the recommendations widget:

    Creating a PlayBuzz Section:

    • Go to: “Dashboard” -> “Pages” -> “Add New”
    • In the visual editor insert: [playbuzz-hub]
    • Click Publish!
    • Copy the URL of the new section page (the url can be found bellow the name of page after “Permalink:”)

Configuring to open on the items in the destination link

    • Go to: “Appearance” -> “Widgets”
    • Add the “PlayBuzz Recommendations” to one of your sidebars
    • In the “Displayed Link” field paste your section url
    • Click “Save Changes”

I forgot to mention, we release a new version to accommodate your needs – update the plugin to version 0.3.2 before you follow the instructions above.

OK, I followed your steps above.

    I’m getting an error message.

I can view the page with the PlayBuzz shortcode [playbuzz-hub] no problem. It displays PlayBuzz content properly. But, when that page is selected from the recommend widget, it produces an error when viewed in browser.

    “Error.
    Oh No!
We’re Sorry, An Error Has Occurred.
    Please try again later.”

Also, using this widget, it changes our site favicon to the PlayBuzz favicon. As you might suspect, that’s not acceptable.

Let me know how to proceed, please.
