Hi there i was wondering if someone can help me, im trying to get a few plugins to work with the side bar, but im a little confused with the sidebar1 and sidebar2 with the widgets down the bottom of the page under presentation/widgets.

I haven’t been using wp for a while now and it was prior to the widget features taking off, so i need a bit of a refresher. I would appreciate some help, i understand it must be a faq but i havent really found the right solution.

    Hi

when logged in the backend of your blog as admin if you goto Presentation then widgets you should be able to see where your template will allow widgets to be placed.

For example if you look at my blog below you can see that I have a widget for the calender on the left sidebar. In the backend under Presentation/widgets to get this to display on my page I simply dragged the widget from the available widgets box into the sidebar where I wanted to appear. For some reason my template displays sidebar2 on the left hand side and sidebar1 on the right (weird i know but maybe its just my template).

If you cannot see your widget in the available widget list make sure it is activated by going to Plugins and then activating the widget if it is not already activated.

Thanks Chris, greatly appreciated it, it was definitely confusing me having sidebar 1 on the right. the only thing i have noticed is my about page isn’t working for some reason- gives me a 404, and the auto tag cloud is not linking to pages gives me a 404 also, but i haven’t touched it.. any ideas??
