• Hi everyone,

I am just interested to know if the amount of Text Links you have in your Footer affects the speed in which your web page loads?

I have created a web page with about 29 text links in the footer and the page is loading slowly. I have heard some people say that the amount of text links you have in your footer and the size of the your footer has no effect on page speed. Is this true?

And in terms of Page Speed would it be better to have four widgets in the footer area instead?

    Many thanks

will the use of 4 widgets REPLACE the links or will the 4 widgets simply serve as a container for the 29 links?

You can use a tool like https://gtmetrix.com or Chrome Developer Tools (press F12) to view your page metrics. It will tell you exactly what is slowing your page down. Links are just HTML and should not affect page speed.

Things that normally DO affect page speed are large images, third-party fonts and scripts, long-running JavaScript, or APIs that stream video and audio to the page.

    Hi Lisa,

I was thinking about replacing the 29 text links in the footer with four different widgets to see if this will help the page to load quicker.

    Many thanks

    Thank you Station7,

This is what I have read on another posts that the amount of links or the size of the footer should not affect the page speed.

I am aware of GTmatrix.com and Chrome developer tools. I will check the metrics on this to see where the problem lies.

Also thanks for your feedback it is very helpful indeed.
