How to integrate to forum, and display 5 posts on homepage

  • I am using wordpress for a site that will have a blog and forum. The homepage will be static. Is it possible to have selected forum posts be posted on the homepage like a blog. For example, could I get the latest 3 forum posts(not the whole post just part of it) on the homepage dynamically?
    Also, since the blog will not be on the homepage, can someone point me to a tutorial that will show me how to put up to the lastest 5 five blog posts on the homepage?
