A client wanted me to edit a template for them (not designed by me) and change the setup of the index page (for use with WordPress). Everything else is done as they wanted it to be but the last step remains the ajax. I’m not very good with JS, so I’m not sure how I would go about this, and even if it is possible since WP is using dynamically generated content.

Take a look at https://astereostudio.com/on/ and change the theme to Mimbo.

You’ll notice at the top there is a large picture, followed by four thumbnails. Essentially what this client wants is the common news effect of being able to click on one of the other 4 thumbnails below and have both the large(r) image and the story excerpt to change in the box above.

    Any ideas?
    Greatly appreciated!

The main idea would be to learn a lot of Javascript. WordPress includes the libraries you’d need to do this sort of thing (prototype, jQuery, etc), but that’s some fairly custom work there.

It can be done through some custom theming, but not by somebody who is “not very good with JS”.
