I’m actually looking to extend the default 48 hour timeout (or browser close) of a user session and 14 day user session with “Remember Me” checked. Also, I like the idea of giving the heads up popup for those about to run into the limit so I’m considering using this plugin.

Can this be used to extend this session duration, or is this just an added layer which is a self-contained auto-logout setup that is triggered in addition to the default durations?

If it does/could extend this duration, is there any plans to offer a separate duration settings which accommodates the users without “Remember Me” checked and those that did have that checked?

    Thanks for the great plugin!

    Hello Kzeni,

Perhaps you are talking about “auth_cookie_expiration” hook. However, you are correct that this is just an added layer which is self contained which does not effect default WordPress component except logout. Auto logout setup is triggered without any relation of session to WordPress core hooks except logout.

This plugin acts to keep users notified and logs them out if user is idle for certain period of time but does not work in extending user sessions. Anyway, i do not intend or plan to include this functionality in current plugin yet but I’d love to discuss your thought personally though and maybe we could build something similar.

Thanks for the clarification! Just wanted to check since I wasn’t 100% sure.

I suppose this could be used in conjunction with something like https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-login-timeout-settings/ to achieve the full functionality I’m envisioning. It would be nice if this were to be bundled into one plugin in the future though ??
