At least a few times a year I get email from clients asking why their (Ninja Form) contact forms aren’t working.

I got this one today: “The form on this page: [contact page] had been a good source of inquiries – any way we can get it working again?”

The message showing, of course, was the maintenance mode “please check back later” warning.

It only takes two seconds to log in and fix but getting called out by clients is embarrassing and, of course, it also costs them missed contacts and potentially missed sales.

Is there a way to set maintenance mode to turn itself off after updates the way core WordPress does? Is there a code snippet we could add to Cron that would do it?

I get that we don’t want people to submit forms while the software or database is updated, but sometimes the problem persists for days before anyone (usually a client or one of their clients, unfortunately) notices.

    Hi David,

You can easily turn off the maintenance mode for your form by heading over to Ninja Forms > Settings.

The Maintenance Mode was actually introduced in an earlier version of Ninja Forms to help facilitate significant changes, such as database modifications. This mode is essentially controlled by a setting in your database. The hiccup you’ve encountered is usually a result of this setting getting accidentally deleted or not correctly transferred during server migration.

I hope this information helps! If you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to ask. We offer free support here, as well.
