Can we have post summaries on the home page?

  • Wondering if anyone can answer this basic newbie question. I just started my first wordpress blog which talks about discount reptile supplies and I wanted to know if there is some way to have wordpress automatically show only the title of the post and the first several sentences of each post. Reason is they are too long and make the visitors scroll down the page too much.

    Not sure if this is a setting, but I tried to find one and no luck.

  • you can limit the number of posts you show at Settings – > Reading

    /wp-admin/options-reading.php

    to show only excerpts go to theme editor

    /wp-admin/theme-editor.php

    choose index.php and search for

    the_content

    replace that with

    the_excerpt

    and click te “pdate file” button
