Can we install WordPress after a subdomain

  • Hi,
    I have a question. Can we add a folder ahead of subdomain, and install a separate wordpress blog in it. E.g

    Suppose i already have a subdomain named as blog.domainname.com and i want to install one more blog say blog.domainname.com/news. So in news directory, their will be a completely separate blog. So let me know if it is possible. Thanks

    I don’t think this is possible.

    You could create a new subdomain site: blognews.domainname.com

    If domainname.com is the multisite, then you need a MultiNETWORK plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-multi-network/

    If blog.domainname.com is the multisite, then just make sites ??

    I understood “separate WordPress blog” as being it’s own non-multisite installation. If that’s what you want then I think you’d want access to your web server virtual host…it won’t work in a standard shared hosting setup. You’d need to have blog.domainname.com go to /public_html and blog.domainname.com/news/* to go to the location of the single WordPress installation.
