Can WordPress handle millions of posts?

  • Just wondering if there is an upper limit to the number of posts that WordPress can handle effectively? Would millions of posts cause any problems? As the numbers of posts increase (beyond a few thousand) do any performance factors decrease (such as search?).

  • In theory, you could have many millions of posts. But other factors such as permalink structure, plugins being used, the theme and the traffic you get will impact on the overall site’s performance.
