Can WP fit my needs: languages, modular privacity, RSS customization

  • I’m considering which software to use for my blog. Here are my requirements:

    – Language management: I’ll be writing in different languages, blog readers should be able to select which languages they wish to read. How does it work: a user choses a language, and entries with the appropriate language appear in that language, whereas entries which do not have that language appear in whatever language available (or not at all)? Other option: user defines a set of languages s/he can read, and only those will appear, untranslated entries are omitted?

    – RSS customization: the blog will broach different subjects. I would like the users to be able to customize a RSS syndication which corresponds to their interests, so that the sigal to noise ration in their RSS readers.

    – sub-blogs: I would like to have sub-blogs with their own url which present a subset of the blog entries. For instance my blog could deal on the navy, sports, and myLive, and I could produce the following blog urls: blog.mydomain.tld (shows everything), navy.mydomain.tld (shows only the navy related posts), sports.mydomain.tld (all entries dedicated to sports). I would also like to theme differently those sub-blogs (i.e. sea picture for navy.mydomain.tld, etc).

    – modular privacy: my intended audience is heterogeneous (family, sets of friends, the internet), and I would like to be able to limit access to certain entries to different subsets of users. To me, the most obvious way to do this would be to define users with a login and password, pool them into groups, and define for each entry if it is private, and which groups can read it. I do not necessarily want to share the same things between my neighbors and my school friends.

    That also brings the issue of RSS syndication: would the privacity settings also filter RSS syndication, or will all entries appear, but those that are private only have for instance the title but not content, or not even the title?

    I would be grateful if more experienced users could comment on the wordpress possibilities, as a newbie I find it hard to evaluate this software capabilities, and how do they fit with my needs

    An additional note, I think that modular privacy would be best served by using the OpenID method of authentication. Most people are already users of Google, Yahoo, Facebook, etc services, and have an OpenID. Otherwise they could create their own via other services such as myopenid.com.

    Can WP use OpenID, and manage those IDs into groups?
