• I was just about to start an application of Mailman, but was not happy with the web pages for the public archive. And that I’ve read the urls are not stable.

My needs require a mail list, where people can subscribe by just sending email to the list with a word like ‘subscribe’ in the subject field. Communicate as you have it, via their own email client, sending messages to the list email addy. I do need a nicely formatted web based public archive. And of course the usual spam/junk filtering, and abilities when it comes to allowing new members.

I also need it basically unlimited users, as our existing list, that we will be transferring will be large.

I’m very interested to see a demo site, and as well, get some input from (Maybe Sharon) who has already started an install.

    Thank you

    Hi Tammy,

    thanks for reaching out.

We don’t have a demo available, yet. As the plugin is quite new we focus on finishing up our documentation and fixing any issues that may arise with the early users.
I will add it onto my todo list to create a demo in order to showcase the web based public archive (we call this “frontend archive” on our site).

I think WP Mailster is good replacement for Mailman, however it does not work exactly the same. Take for example the “people can subscribe by just sending email to the list with a word like ‘subscribe’ in the subject field” feature you describe.
I know this is a classic mailing list feature but we opted not to implement it.
Why? Because this requires some inherent knowledge of how it worked “back in the day” and we believe it is better to provide newsletter-style subscription widgets that todays uses are familiar with and that don’t require knowledge or explanation.

Other than that the majority of mailing list / listserv features are in place in WP Mailster, feel free to checkout an overview of the features on our site: https://wpmailster.com/feature-comparison/

    Hope that helps.

    Regards,
    Holger
