Your plugin is great and does just what it says and works very well.

My problem is that, as a web designer, the <span> has limitations on what attributes can be used with CSS to manipulate it. For instance, I can’t restrict it to a max-width, the way I could with a <div>.

I have overcome this for now by editing your plugin file but it will be overwritten with your next update.

Can you give us an admin option to specify if we want a span or a div?

The latest release, version 0.5.0, gives the option to wrap the caption output in a <div>. It still retains the span for more granular control of each element of the caption output, but you can use the <div> to achieve the styling you are looking to do. Thanks for the suggestion!

I just updated and tried out the new feature… it works great! I checked both options on the settings page and now I can make the captions looks just like I want it to ??

My only suggestion (and this is just because it was unclear to me) is to explain that the div option also adds a CSS class to the div, namely <div class="cc-featured-image-caption">. Currently it only says it adds a <div> so I wasn’t sure if I turned it on I would be able to identify it easily. But that’s just me being picky ??

Thank you so much! This plugin is going to be in many of my sites very soon.

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback on documentation. I’m going to revise the documentation to clarify things a bit with the next release, so that’s good real-world information to have.
