Can you replace “Older Entries” with a list of posts, or other Pagination?

On my blog (wordpress 2.7), on the main page I have the standard 10 posts, and at the end of that when you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you get a link for “Older Entries” to get to the next 10 posts.

What I would really like is a list of 5 or so Post titles, so it would look like:

Post title 11
Post title 12
Post title 13
Post title 14
Post title 15

Something like what https://www.readwriteweb.com have

Anyone know if this can be done?
