Can you store media on different server?

  • Hi all,
    I want to create a WordPress server online for my neice, but know she will want to put a load of media on it and I can’t afford the price of storage. Is there any way I can put the WordPress and SQL on one host that runs it, but all media are stored at a different location? I can set up a static public rout to my home NAS, so could store all her media in my house so that they are in a free storage area and her WordPress site that runs in the cloud looks up my NAS for the files.
    If this is possible, if she uploads media to the site using the standard way in WordPress, would it automatically store them on my NAS?

    Could somebody please let me know if this is possible and what I need to install or configure to get it to work.
