I moved my test site to the main domain and now I am not able to get the dashboard. I have changed the site and home URL in the database. I have added update lines to functions.php and wp-config.php as well as corrected permissions. No matter what I am still routed back to the home page anytime I try to go to the admin page. I have done everything I have seen and know to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is my site:
https://llcmetaverse.com and yes I know about the absent logo at the top. Thanks in advance!

Yes, that’s why I don’t see why it’s not working. I tried everything as I stated in the initial post.

Which part of moving wordpress did you use?

    I changed folders.

Ok so I guess I will say again exactly what I did….

    I changed folders from test.llcmetaverse.com to llcmetaverse.com.

I FTP the files to the folder and had the chown the files to the right user and group to get rid of the 500 error.

I changed the site url and the home url in the wp_options table database from test.llcmetaverse.com to llcmetaverse.com.

    I changed the wp_posts from test.llcmetaverse.com to llcmetaverse.com

I added update options for the site url and the home url in both functions.php and wp-config.php

I have deleted, used black, and modified htaccess files.

I have removed plugins that could suppressed the admin such as White Label CMS.

This is everything I have done so far. I’m not sure what else to say but I kinda feel like I’m repeating myself in every response.

I don’t think you followed the link I put above which includes, https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress#When_Your_Domain_Name_or_URLs_Change.

I think (sorry you didn’t have to repeat what you did-I didn’t ask what, I asked which :^)) you followed this https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_The_Site_URL after moving the site files to a new directory.

I see the wp files at the new url so you might try to login here, https://llcmetaverse.com/wp-login.php although the style sheet seems to be absent.

I did follow the link and those are the steps I followed to move it. I only followed the other steps in changing the site URL after I had issues with the 500 error. I can login at that link but I still can’t access the dashboard.

I’m really not sure what else I can tell you that I haven’t said already.

    kmessinger

    (@kmessinger)

Was the 500 error after this step?
    9. Now, try to open your site by going to yourdomain.com/wp-admin. Note, you may need to go to yourdomain.com/wp-login.php

I can login at that link but I still can’t access the dashboard.

Are you logged in as a contributor or what?

I fixed the 500 error. That’s not an issue anymore. Trying to access wp-admin just takes me back to the home page. wp-login.php lets me log in, takes me back to the home page and I still can’t access the dashboard. I’m the only user and I am the admin. If I click dashboard from the toolbar at the top, it just reroutes me to the home page.

Excuse me for being a bit frustrated at this point but I really feel like I’m repeating myself over and over again with each post.

I am just trying to get the info on exactly where the process failed. At what step? The steps are numbered and where and what you did does matter.

But if you want to take the hammer approach do you have a database backup? If so, reinstall everything.

I fixed the 500 error. That’s not an issue anymore

The point is, there should have not been a 500 error and by “fixing” it instead of completing the move is probably what caused your problem.

If I click dashboard from the toolbar at the top

So you are getting into a limited dashboard. You do see the toolbar. What you see in the dashboard is limited by the role wp sees you in. Maybe all you need to do is change your role in the database? In the meta table admin should be a:1:{s:13:"administrator";b:1;}.

    (@lindsaydover)

It failed at step 9 of the set of instructions for existing server. I had an issue at step 7 due to permissions. I SSHed into the server and changed the group and owner to the correct name and proceeded to step 8. I am the administrator. I am the only user. The move was complete before the 500 error and the 500 error was a Linux issue, not a WordPress one.

I can access your site directly at https://llcmetaverse.com/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/13floor/ This shouldn’t be. Make sure the database is backed up and try a manual reinstall.

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update

Pay particular attention to the instructions about the wp-content folder.

I use Softaculous for clean installs so I don’t have to be bothered with perms and such. What if the problem is in the database? Won’t that just pass the problem along?

    kmessinger

    (@kmessinger)

You should be able to run some checks on the tables in the database to see if they need repair. MySQL or whatever the host provides.
