    After the upgrade, the message I get is “The lindaksienkiewicz.com page isn’t working. lindaksienkiewicz.com is currently unable to handle this request.”

    I cleared my cache. I tried using both Chrome and Safari to access the dashboard. I use a Mac.

    I don’t know what upgrade caused this. I’m not even sure what version of WordPress I am using! My website is working fine, except one widget looks wonky. Someone else built my website for me, I do not understand http, and I am not tech-savvy. I need simple to follow advice please to access my dashboard or to fix this.

    Yes, it probably did, but I suspect that now you’re running WordPress 4.5.3, no? You can check this on your main Dashboard page.

    Is this your website: https://lindaksienkiewicz.com/

    If so, Sucuro online SiteCheck does not indicate presence of any malware on your site:

    I still think it would worth to try MANUALLY updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Please read the Manual Update directions first.

    If That’s too much, then at least try this and go from there:

    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    resetting the plugins folder by FTP.
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Sixteen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    @tara, thank you. Somehow things were reset through Bluehost and I now have full access to my dashboard.

    @samuel, yes, I will need to update to 4.6. Hopefully it will work without a problem. Fingers crossed.

    @lsienkiewicz, just so you are aware of this – Genesis has a critical update that you should have made before WordPress 4.6 was updated. Did you perform that update? If not, that is probably why you had the issue.

    You might want to follow @studiopress on Twitter and also the hashtag #genesiswp so that you can get those updates. I just followed you.

    @lksienkiewicz

    Inside your WP dashboard, do you see a notice to update Genesis? If you do, you’ll need to do that before updating to WordPress 4.6.

    Here’s an explanation.

    @anita and @brian: I update whatever my dashboard tells me to update! I don’t see anything about needing to update Genesis. The page states that my themes and plugins are all up to date.

    I still need to update to 4.6, but to be honest, I’m hesitant to do so.

    @lksienkiewicz I can confirm that you are definitely running the latest version of Genesis, so if you were to update and experience the white screen again, it’s more than likely an issue with a plugin then. Even though the plugin is up-to-date, there still might be an issue with its compatibility and the latest version of WordPress.

    @brian – thank you.

    Thank you everyone!
