    Hi there

Just opened my first wordpress account, which is being hosted via bluehost. I’ve been trying to change the theme but everytime I try to do a theme search I get the error message ‘an unknown error occurred’. It also happens if I click on ‘featured’, ‘newest’ etc tabs.

I set wordpress up using simplescripts on bluehost. Is there something I need to set up elsewhere in bluehost?

    Many thanks.

  • It won’t work until the API site is “less busy” or whatever config element needs changing to allow more connections is changed. So if you try again later it might work.

Great content management program ….. but a theme outage for such a long time is real black eye? Hope it’s fixed soon?

I have several wp sites and have recently upgraded most to the latest version. All was working fine with themes a couple of days ago but today I am having the same error as everyone above. Tried reinstalling WP but no joy.

I can manually upload-install-activate themes but can’t search and use ones via WP. The search options don’t even appear when you click on Add New Theme – Clicking on Featured – New and Recently Updated also doesn’t work.

Thanks for logging the trac error mrmist hopefully they fix it soon.

    Greetings from the Galapagos Islands

Since Friday June 4 I am unable to change themes without getting the ‘an unknown error occurred’. I used simplescripts on bluehost to upload. I have 3 blogs and all were setup the same way.

Is this a bluehost problem or wp one? Do I check with them or just wait and see?

As I am new at this, is there another way to preview the template before uploading them manually?

    thank you

My Host “Godaddy” reports it’s a WP server issue.

Hostgator states it is a WP problem too-It would be nice if we could get an e-mail or something that says when they might have it up and running again! This has been a major headache for me I thought I did some bad coding that affected my whole cPanel!

I almost switched everything to html this morning!!!!

The same problem with themes since yerterday (not with plugins).

I have try a fresh installation but the same problem, so the issue is not mine.

I like this option to automatic install of themes, I’d like to know when it will be available again, thanks.

@mrmist — you are DA MAN! It’s fixed now. I’ll have to keep a link to trac in the future.

This should be fixed now, my tests are working at least.

I’d like to get confirmation from a few others that this has been resolved.

Here on the Galapagos Islands it seems working. Thank you

I’m not sure if it’s resolved for me or not. It looked as though I could finally select my theme and install it, but once I did and then went to set it up, I received this message: “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

What is that? and most importantly, how do I clear it so that I can continue to set up my theme?

Thanks to anyone who can tell me a fix for this!

    @mrmist

After I installed my theme this morning (which was on the third site I set up this morning – the first two worked just fine using the exact same theme) and went to set it up, I received this message: “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

What is that? and most importantly, how do I clear it so that I can continue to set up my theme?
