There obviously seems to be several issues with updating to version 4.6. Since updating I can no longer access the “Installed Plugins” page. There are no errors and really nothing I can find that would be causing this issue. Every attempt to access Installed Plugins redirects to the website’s home page. I can access everything else in wp-admin, but Installed Plugins. I have tried disabling all plugins thinking that might be the issue, but I still get the same result. I have tried switching to the default twenty sixteen theme, but still get the same result. I have tried deactivating all plugins AND switching to the default twenty sixteen theme, but still get the same result. What’s even more frustrating is I can add new plugins and access the plugin editor, but cannot access installed plugins. I’ve read several threads of people not being able to access wp-admin after the update, websites not loading at all, or odd behaviors on the front end of their sites, but nothing like I’ve experienced. Anyone else having the same or similar issue??????? I should also mention that I am managing 4 different websites that have all been updated to version 4.6. Only our main website is experiencing this issue. Also, all 4 websites are on the same web server.

  • What version of PHP are you using?

    Hi,

Looks like a strange issue, just updated to the last version with AWS and on a simple host both, no problem.

Are you using nginx or a special setup of Apache? Did your host automatically switched you to PHP 7?

    Hope it helps,

Our server is running PHP 5.4.45. No special setup of Apache that I’m aware of.

@digico Paris This is a VERY strange issue especially since the other websites are showing no effects from the update.

I just now got to the plugins page and I’m not sure why except the URL is not just /wp-admin/plugins.php it’s /wp-admin/plugins.php?plugin_status=all&paged=1&s. I installed a maintenance mode plugin so I could disable each plugin one by one instead of all of them at the same time. After the plugin installed I clicked the Return to Plugins Page link and it took me to the URL above. Anyone seen anything like this before?

Yes, those are simply URL parameters. It’s just telling the application to show ALL plugins, and you are on page 1.

Yes, I understand that, but what I don’t understand is why this is the only way I can access the installed plugins page. Any attempt to go to /wp-admin/plugins.php redirects to the home page unless those parameters are defined in the URL.

Chrome was the culprit this entire time as it was holding on to a ton of cache. Didn’t think to check that since I tried with Firefox with the same result. After dumping the cache and restarting Chrome I am able to access plugins.php again.

I should have also mentioned that I did do a restore back to 4.5.3, but the issue still seemed to exist although it never happened before the first attempt to update to 4.6. There really could have been an issue with the update and Chrome stored it in cache so it appeared the problem still existed after the restore. Anyway, I have since updated back to 4.6 with no apparent issues.
