  • Not sure what you mean by

cannot access my site after moving files on Godaddy server to root directory.

Where were the files before? Did you have your site set up on a different directory before or another server?

If you had the files in a different directory and simply wanted to change the url the steps you need to follow are here – https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

    Hi Christine

    sorry for not making clearer

yes directories were on the same server

original set was in /wordpress/ dir

I copied all the file into the public html root folder

then went to change the url in the settings panel and everything went mental.

have followed your suggestion am now getting a “Error establishing a database connection”

so not sure what is going on????

    thanks for your help
