Cannot access wp-admin

  • Hello. My site is “www.duckandsasquatch.com” and I cannot access the “wp-admin” part of my site. Whenever I try to go there, I get an “oops broken link” page. I can access “www.duckandsasquatch.com/wp-login.php” but when I attempt to log in I get back to the broken link page. I have been on Hiatus from this site since last July, and when I went back to finally start update it again, this happened. I have not tried to move the site or done anything else that seems to result in this same problem for others, so I am not sure what I should try to do. Any help at all is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • I don’t think your “Site address (URL)” is set properly in the general settings section of your dashboard. Your site is in a sub directory /wordpress/ and your index.php is in the right place (although it looks like it was moved instead of copied) but your site is possibly configured to look for it in the /wordpress/ directory.

    So your general settings should be as follows:
    WordPress address (URL) = https://www.duckandsasquatch.com/wordpress
    Site address (URL) = https://www.duckandsasquatch.com

    Since you don’t have access to your dashboard you will have to manually go into your database to make these settings.

    *Don’t forget to backup before you do any of this.

    I have the same problem. Due to a change in general settings of the URLs
    my bad ! ??

    can you please tell me what is the name of the file in the database where I can modify manually the URLs ? I have opened the database with CUTE FTP and now I just have to find the right file.

    Thanks keesiemeijer I have fixed the problem by editing functions.php file and restored the site.
    Too bad that the links to all the pictures don’t work anymore although the actual .jpegs are still there on the site where the link indicates they should be.
    I will try to upload all the pictures again.
    If you have any suggestions for this fix.

    How do i fix it ? … i have host form godaddy.com and i instaled wordpress directly on my website …

    I have fixed the problem by editing functions.php file. It’s the second solution offered in the above link
