• Hi

I have just tried to upgrade wordpress to 4.7 as the site requested and although I can still see the site I cannot access the admin area. Trying to open /wp-admin initially gave me a series of plugin errors so I have used ftp to rename the plugin folder to plugins-old and now it is giving me an error related to an admin.php function. The message I get is:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_raise_memory_limit() in /home/content/44/11129844/html/root_sites/all/maisonmaitre/wp-admin/admin.php on line 141

I do not want to mess around too much as I am not really that technically minded but can follow instructions. How can I now access the admin area if admin.php is having problems? I have downloaded a copy to edit the file but one look told me it was not something I should try!

Have followed instructions as far as I can and searched for similar issues but cannot find any guidance.

Any help appreciated . Many thanks.

    Geoff

  • you should just first try to increase you server memory for php as the error is from wp_raise_memory_limit

I do not control the server so cannot do that. Also, it worked before and 4.7 is not calling for more php memory (I believe) so do not think that is the issue.

In that case, you can try to re update your site. as sometimes if the update process wasn’t smooth it gives this kind of error message. try to update manually using FTP.

OK, thanks for your help and advice.

It did not help that my host company gave me the address of the test site that has been defunct for 10 months! I was busy trying all the changes on a site that was not even live. Ho hum.

When I finally got to the right site I simply renamed the plugins folder and regained plugless access to the site. Did all the updating and have restarted the plugins. Panic over, business as usual.

I really appreciate that you responded to my call for help.

    Geoff
