Attempted to install and activate this plugin.

Got an error that it could not activate.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Ctct\SplClassLoader in … /wp-content/plugins/constant-contact-forms/vendor/constantcontact/constantcontact/constantcontact/src/Ctct/SplClassLoader.php on line 23

Bingo! I am also using Total Donations on my site! I can’t get rid of that, though, as it is doing a lot of heavy lifting for this organization’s donations. I wasn’t even aware that Total Donations integrated at all with Constant Contact. Hmmm…

Any ideas of how to resolve? Or do you think Celeste and I should just start looking for a different way to handle our CC subscription forms. Really, I probably could just do it as a text widget and stick the form code in there, but that’s not super friendly for the client.

Is Total Donations a premium plugin? or is it available on www.ads-software.com here? I’d like to try some things.

    It’s a premium plugin: https://totaldonations.com/

    D’oh.

Honestly, at this point, it’d probably be more productive to figure out why the server 500 error occurred than try to fight with Total Donations. The problem with that is that I’d really prefer it not have to be on a live site, for very obvious reasons. That said, I’m curious if your hosting has any error logging enabled and if their support staff could help determine what went on with that error.

I’ve reached out to my host. We’ll see what they say.

I use ManageWP so I could easily clone the site over to a development area if that would help BUT with Total Donations being a premium license, I don’t think it can be active on a live site and a dev site at the same time, so that might not help.

Hi Michael and brightgirl, I hope it’s okay to keep posting in your thread. ??

I’m using the Total Donations plugin on both a live and staging site at the same time. I can send a login to my staging site if it’s helpful.

Celeste, you are very welcome to post here as we both clearly have the same problem!

Are you able to use the same Total Donations license key on both live and staging at the same time? Or do you actually have two separate keys? I’ve always been curious about how that would work.

Please also post back if you have any luck finding any other CC plugin that will work in the meantime.

Regarding the live vs staging sites, does the license need to be active for the plugin itself to be activated? Or is that just needed to enable the functionality or at least the ability to accept donations?

If it’s not needed for the plugin to be active in the context of the WordPress install, then it shouldn’t be a blocking issue.

Sounds like you’re willing to allow me in to the staging site. I recommend creating a temp admin user for myself to use, instead of providing the user/password for an existing one on the site. Please use michael @ webdevstudios.com for an email address there. Also, as much as it feels like I’m asking too much, some FTP access to the staging site would be beneficial as well, since I know the editors for plugins doesn’t go too far, in terms of nested folders, and it’s possible that the files I’d need to look at are more nested than I’d be able to access. For that, if you’re willing, just email me those directly.

Thanks all for sticking with us thus far.

Brightgirl, I don’t believe the plugin requires the license key to use it, so I installed it on both sites without trouble. I am able to run live transactions from the staging site without any issues.

Michael, I sent you an email with the login details. Thanks so much with your help with this.

Had an epiphany and now have a mental lead on what’s going on. Leaves me with figuring out how to get around this. Stay tuned.

Hey Celeste, did you happen to make a fresh copy of the staging site or delete the test user? I want to test a new version of the plugin to see if we possibly have a resolved issue, but it’s not presently letting me in.

Understandable if you need to not let me in as well.

Hey Michael, I just fixed the password and the previous login is working now. Thanks for checking into it.

Received, and sadly didn’t prove to be successful like I hoped, so we’re still looking into this one. It’s definitely got some priority to it as well, since who knows how many other plugins are using the same libraries that we’re conflicting with in this case.

    Thanks.

Bummer. On my end, I’m still trying to get any info I can from my server people about the errors I experienced. They encouraged me to update WP and “talk with the plugin author.” So they obviously didn’t read my question which stated that it was plugin author who asked me to ask them. But I’m still following up and will let you know if I get anything out of them.

Brightgirl, while Michael is working on this issue, I found a temporary solution for people to sign up for our mailing list. Constant Contact offers a web sign up form for each mailing list in your account. You can get the link to the form from your account, then set up a text or button link in a page or text widget on your site.

Here are the instructions on where to find the form link. I set it up as a “subscribe” button in our sidebar and it is working fine.
