Cannot add Employee Description

  • Good morning! I’m using the default/built in “Employee” section of wordpress to track our employees, log their qualifications, etc. We use these employee sections to have a small blurb about the teacher on the page linked to this post. You can see several examples on the page.

    However, for Joy Bryant under “Elementary,” wordpress will not save any descriptions that I make for her. Anything I write in the “Employee position” or “about employee” box simply disappears after hitting update. It’s allowed for a picture to be added and her name/title, but that’s all.

    Anything else I try and update, the page spins for several minutes showing that it’s processing, and I’m then returned a wordpress error. The error is HTTP ERROR 500. I’ve tried using simple html, plaintext, etc, nothing will save.

    Any recommendations? I’ve tried using a different device, clearing browsing history/cache, etc., all to no avail.

    There’s no such thing in a default installation of WordPress. This must be coming from a plugin or your active theme.

    The “faculty-staff” page you provided was built with the WP Bakery plugin. So perhaps this is where this “Employee” thingy is coming from? Unfortunately, WP Bakery is a commercial plugin — so we’re unable to install it and offer any assistance.

    I’ll recommend you get in touch with the WPBakery plugin’s vendor for help. If your version of this plugin came bundled with your theme (your theme is also a commercial product), you may want to contact your theme’s vendor instead.

    Thank you for the direction! This is certainly an “inherited” project, so I’m not sure what came baked into wordpress versus what’s from a plugin. Thank you for clearing up my confusion!
