• I am at the brink of my patience and in dire need of some help!

    I cannot add any items to any menu. I’ve tried everything, every theme, reinstalling wordpress (several times), changing the sql-database… everything.

    Here’s what happens: I can create a menu. No problem. However, when I click on “add to menu” to add menu items, the only thing that happens is that the sentence “Add menu items from the column on the left.” changes to “Drag each item into the order you prefer. Click the arrow on the right of the item to reveal additional configuration options.” However the box with the menu item doesn’t appear below. Even after I save the menu, it doesn’t appear in the front end.
    I am not a totally unexperienced wordpress user. However, I have never encountered this bug.

    Can anybody help me with this? My site is: https://www.citizen-global.com

  • Check your settings in the upper right corner, “screen options.”

    Everything is checked there. Other ideas?

    What theme are you using? BTW putting your site into maintenance mode precludes many of the actions we take to assist.

    I’m using Twenty Fourteen right now, but I tried every possible standard theme and it still doesn’t work.
    I’ve deactivated the maintenance mode now. Sorry about that.

    This line, “Select a menu to edit: Menu 1 – is it there?

    You shouldn’t have to create a menu. The theme’s default menu should show up as the line above.

    Hey!
    No. That line isn’t therel. I had to create a menu.

    At the top of that page are two tabs. When you click on manage locations, do you see menus?

    I see the 2 test menus that I’ve created. That’s it. No default menus.

    This is all it says:
    “Your theme supports 2 menus. Select which menu appears in each location.

    Theme Location Assigned Menu
    Top primary menu Test Edit Use new menu
    Secondary menu in left sidebar” etc.

    Change the Test to Menu 1. Save. Go back to the edit menus tab and see if Select a menu to edit Menu 1 shows up.

    Menu 1 wasn’t there by default. So like you suggested, I changed my Test-menu to menu one. Menu 1 now shows up regularly to edit.
    Still can’t add any menu items though.

    If you’d like to take a better look and need any login-details, let me know, where to send them.

    With Menu 1 showing you click on the select button.

    Check. Done that. No change.

    Then I have to assume some files are missing or corrupted.

    Download and extract the WordPress package from https://www.ads-software.com/download/.
    Delete the old WordPress files on your site, but DO NOT DELETE
    wp-config.php file;
    wp-content folder; Special Exception: the wp-content/cache and the wp-content/plugins/widgets folders should be deleted.
    wp-images folder;
    wp-includes/languages/ folder–if you are using a language file do not delete that folder;
    .htaccess file–if you have added custom rules to your .htaccess, do not delete it;
    robots.txt file–if your blog lives in the root of your site (ie. the blog is the site) and you have created such a file, do not delete it.
    Upload the new files from your computer’s hard drive to the appropriate WordPress folder on your site.

    Ok. I’ll try that again and get back to you.
