• I cannot re-add the widgets that I had previously removed.
The ‘ADD’ link is no longer there.

In the Appearance>Widgets section, I used a widget called ‘Fun with Widget Structures’, which allows tabs in the sidebar. I added Recent Comments, Recent Posts, and WP-Polls widgets to that Widget Structure.

When I removed the widget structure, I found I could not add the widgets that were in the widget structure back like normal. The ‘ADD’ link is no longer there. The system still thinks the widgets are being used because they show up under the ‘show used widgets’ filter.

I have tried deactivating all the relevant plugins but to no avail D:.

    Does anyone have a solution?

  • I might add that going from a theme with 2 widgeted sidebars to another with only 1 can do the exact same thing ??

yeah, you could argue that my tabbed-sidebar plugin added another widgeted sidebar ??
i’ve since removed that plugin though but the recent comments/posts widgets seem to have disappeared with it ??

you could try with a clear installation of wordpress and then reactivate the old database without the option setting

    same problem here…
this is a big bad bug!

    I have tried everything…
Cleaned out the options in the DB
    Clean install
    Turned off everything…
    still nothing…

Ask me somthing I have not done?

I believe there is a plugin called “reset widget”. You could try this. IMPORTANT: Back up all of you widget option settings, text etc because this will clear all of that out.

    Correction…

The name of the plugin is Widgets Reloaded plugin

I found this thread while searching on a similar issue with the inability to add widgets. I found that my previously used theme was still holding the widgets. So, my resolution was as simple as going back and removing them.
