Cannot assign custom role as Author after the update ???

Hi. We run about 280 websites and almost all of them we use Members plugin.

We created a custom role for our clients as ‘Operator’. Very similar with Administrator role but without the capability of removing users, roles, plugins and themes.

I notice after sometime, I think after the update, we are not able to assign the Operator role as Author in posts.

Our work around is we assign the role Author as additional role to the user. But we don’t want to do this since we just forfeited the Operator role.
