• When we have created a new layer, in “edit layer” there is no button next to “update” which says “add new marker”. So we go up the top and use that “add new marker” button, but I’m not sure that doing that puts the marker into the layer we had selected – it certainly doesn’t seem to.

Then, when we put in all the details for the marker, it does not allow us to assign a layer. In the pull down menu, there are layers listed, but it won’t allow us to choose them.

When we “list all layers”, all the markers are assigned to the first layer, even though we’ve tried *very hard* to add some to the second layer.

As an aside, the layers seem to duplicate themselves at random, just by us moving from “edit layer” to the layer list.

If you go to “list all markers”, they are all listed as unassigned and we can’t assign them to a layer.

We have tried disabling all the other plugins and it made no difference.

Thank you for any help you can provide. We were looking forward to being wowed by this plugin. So far we haven’t been, unfortunately. It’s just been one big headache. ??

The website is not available to look at as it is not published, and neither is the map, as we can’t make any sense of this plugin.

  • layer maps have a button “add new marker to this layer” on top – clicking this is the same as using “add new marker” and then selecting the layer you want to assign the marker to from the dropdown list.

Please be aware that markers cannot be assigned to multi-layer-maps (which have to be actively selected on layer creation) – perhaps this is an issue here.

another idea is that as it seems your are developing on a localhost installation, that this causes issues (if webserver or database is not setup properly) – please try to test on a live server if possible to verify this.

Thanks Robert. Yes, they were multilayer maps – unticked them, and we’re able to now add markers to the layers. Thank you.

Hopefully we’ll stop getting the randomly appearing duplicate layers too. ??

I’m still very confused about this though. What is the point of a multilayer map if you can’t place markers on it? For example, if you wanted to have a map of locations of public toilets, I might want to have one layer with all the free public toilets and another layer with the ones you have to pay for. For me, the layers would be a way of arranging the information and differentiating between the two.

If that’s not how it works, what are multilayer maps for?

    Thanks so much.

couldnt be able to reproduce the duplicate layer issue – please make sure you are using the latest version; added some improvements on the interface which might have caused confusions here…

regarding multi-layer-map: there is a technical limitation which does not allow you to assign the markers directly sorry. MLM are meant for better organizing your layers. Imaging creating the following layers:
    – apple
    – bananas
    – oranges
then assign marker to it for each category. Then create a multi-layer-map “fruits” which displays all markers from the 3 individual layers.

Thanks – that helps to explain the layers.

We’re still getting the duplicate layers. No idea why. We have the latest version as we only downloaded it today (I just checked and it is fine).

In the import template, in the column called basemap, are there only two codes to choose from or are there other codes for the other types of maps? The two options are OSM_mapnik and googleLayer_satellite.

Thank you for your help. We really do appreciate it.

can you please provide a step-by-step example of the duplicate layer issue so that I can try to reproduce this?

regarding import: no, there are more available; will have to document them better; just open a map, click on “view sourcecode” and search for OSM_mapnik, you will then see the other options available, like
    mapquest_osm
    mapquest_aerial

    best,
    Robert
