• I am using WordPress v 2.2.1
    I would like to upgrade to v 2.3.2
    To do so, it is suggested that I should backup my database.
    I have installed and activated WordPress Database Backup v 2.1.5
    No matter whether I try do backup to my computer or to my host, I get error

    WARNING: Your backup directory is NOT writable! We can not create the backup directory.
    /home/whs59net/public_html/wordpress/

    I have created a directory on my home computer called
    C:\home\whs59net\public_html\wordpress

    My server shows a directory /public_html/wordpress/ with rwe permissions open to the whole world.

    What more can I do? How can I set up my computer or my host to be able to back up my database?

    Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Gotta admit that I always just do backups with the hosting software. That way I know I get everything and in a form that I can reimport back in.

    Manage -> Backup

    Under ‘Backup Options’, select ‘Download to your computer’ and hit the ‘Bacup!’ button.
