Cannot change admin email

Hi, I cannot change the admin email in the dashboard area.
It says my personal email is the admin email, and I wanted to change it. So I did.
Then it said:
“This address is used for admin purposes. If you change this, an email will be sent to your new address to confirm it. The new address will not become active until confirmed.“
And also:
“There is a pending change of the admin email to —– (new email)”
but I have not received any email. I have tried this three times, to no avail.
What am I doing wrong please?
