• I often change the colour of individual words. Normally I select a colour, and copy the hex code, and paste it in so I can use the same colour on another piece of text. All that is fine until I go to paste in the hex code. It just glitches and defaults to black #000000

If I try typing the number in my hand it just glitches and won’t let me type.

I had this same problem recently, and was advised to remove Gutenberg plugin, and this worked. Then got 5.9 update and it’s happened again. I don’t have Gutenberg installed.

The only obvious difference is instead of having ‘font color’ as an option on the dropdown, its now ‘highlight’.

Any ideas? This is a big problem for me as being able to highlight words is essential for my posts.

Same problem, it’s been this way for weeks on end.

For selected text (block editor) isn’t working correctly. I’m not certain is block is Guttenberg; one in the same? Ever since text color and highlight background were combined on one menu option… (5.9 from what I’ve read above)

Selecting one section of text to highlight and using the hex decimal entry for a specific color (consistent branding) doesn’t accept input. It defaults to #ffffff or something on that order no matter what you type in. Dragging the color locator through the color field works, selecting standard theme colors works, but you can’t use specific hex# colors chosen for your brand. Hex# input is bugged.

Side widget text color for the entire block works fine, but NOT the local text HIGHLIGHT options.

Also, for MailPoet a WooCommerce add-on, the FORMS tool (pop-ups, bars, widgets, etc) introduces a different problem with the same feature, selected text HIGHLIGHT feature to change text COLOR introduces a bug that inserts a background color to the text. Tested on Theme 2021, 2022, and 2017… background color changes, but bug is consistent.

Text color works correctly if using the MailPoet side widget tools for text color, but any use of the local HIGHLIGHT tool for text color bugs the text introducing a background color despite clearing the text highlight. Clearing the text and background colors at the local HIGHLIGHT tool is the only thing that clears this error.

After about a week of searching, I’ve located this error. It is now working correctly, but the HIGHLIGHT local text tool is the cause of the problem.

Hi! I also have the same problem. Using WP 5.9. No solutions? Tks…Derek

Hi all. Is there a solution yet? Or could anyone recommend a practical work around?
    Thanks in advance
