I have Customizr theme, the free version. I also have installed the plugin named BuddyPress. In that plugin I have enabled extended profiles. BuddyPress creates a page named ‘members’, which is used as a template for building the page: myDomain/members/

I can set the side bar to left side (which also happens to be the default setting for all pages). And when viewing the members directory it correctly displays a left hand side bar.

Individual profiles are displayed using: myDomain/members/userName/
When the profile page loads, the side bar shows up on the right side, regardless of the settings used on the ‘members’ page.

Can someone please explain how I can override this behavior in my child theme, removing the right sidebar and adding the left sidebar to the profile page?

    Thanks!

I seemed to have found a solution. I just hope it does not have any unwanted side affects.
From the customizing view: Customizing ? Main Content
    Pages & Posts Layout
The setting named “Choose the pages default layout”
This was set to Right sidebar. I don’t know why. Because when I go to edit any page it clearly shows default is left. But when I changed this setting to Left sidebar, the individual profile page correctly displays the left had sidebar.

    Hi,

    You are doing it correctly.

You have to set the post or page default layout in the customizer, as the option to override default layout is only available to post and page.

There is no option to set layout for any plugin generated post or page, it only uses the layout set in customizer.

The default layout option within your add new page or edit page is according to “Choose the global default layout” option in customizer and not according to “Choose the pages default layout” option in customizer.

Try out the options to have a better understanding.

    Thank you
