When I try to connect WooCommerce with Facebook a windows “Facebook für Magento” opens and gives the following error message:

    Verbindung fehlgeschlagen

    (Connection failed)

Seems that things are a little bit messed up…

  • Hi Edi – @psychosopher,

Thanks for reaching out. Happy to help you with this!

We’ve seen a few merchants encounter the “Facebook for Magento” issue and in almost all cases this was due to an issue with the browser. Most merchants were running the latest Firefox release with the Facebook Container plugin.

We would recommend temporarily running the setup wizard from a separate browser, or private/incognito browser window to avoid ad-blockers that may prevent the Facebook scripts from loading correctly.

Would you please give that a try and let me know if it works for you?

    Thanks,
    Marcus

I tried with another browser and also with a private window. In every case after the “connection” I get now the error message:

    Hoppla! Da ist etwas schiefgelaufen.
M?glicherweise liegt ein technischer Fehler vor. Wir arbeiten daran, diesen zu beheben. Bitte versuche, die Seite erneut zu laden.

Okay, it’s in German. But in fact it says nothing.

    Hi Edi – @psychosopher,

Thank you for confirming this for me. A couple of days ago, we released a new major version of the plugin that – along with some updates on the Facebook side – hopes to resolve many of the connection issues people have faced.

Would you please make sure your plugin is up-to-date (version 2.0.1) and try again?

    Thanks,
    Marcus

    The plugin is updated.

    Also WooCommerce (v4.4.1).

    Hi @psychosopher,

Thank you for taking the time to double-check the version and keeping me updated here.

Would you please let me know if you are still seeing this issue? If so, would you please “uninstall” the connection (you can find this under WooCommerce > Facebook settings) and try re-connecting? I look forward to seeing how this goes for you.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

I cannot “uninstall” it, because I cannot connect at all:

    Hoppla! Da ist etwas schiefgelaufen.
M?glicherweise liegt ein technischer Fehler vor. Wir arbeiten daran, diesen zu beheben. Bitte versuche, die Seite erneut zu laden.

    Hi @psychosopher,

Thank you for letting me know. I believe you are seeing an error message that includes a blue person with a wrench. This error message is directly on the Facebook side and related to the connection, not the plugin itself.

In the bottom left corner of that box, there should be a “Contact Us” link to reach out to Facebook directly.

Would you please give that a try and let me know what they say?

    Thanks,
    Marcus

I wrote to Facebook. What a surprise: no answer!

But it works now. All in all a very bad experience.

    Hi Edi – @psychosopher,

Thank you for letting me know that you’re connected now – that’s great news! I’m truly sorry that this experience has been far less than ideal. We strive to provide the best experience and I’m sorry that we missed the mark here.

We’re always looking for ways to improve our plugins and I’ve made a note of this experience for our product team to review. We take these seriously and hope that we can provide a better outcome in the future.

Are there any other questions I can answer for you? Please don’t hesitate to let me know.

    Thanks,
    Marcus
