Cannot control text/date that appears

This should be just the widget for me, but in the widget controls I cannot set months to show (it gives me 3) and I cannot set the items to show ( it gives me 1 automatically) and what I see is a double listing of each event with exact same date repeated. I would like also to control whether the date is listed….ie. would rather put it into my text.. Please help. https://www.tellmeagoodstory.org PS I will remove the second text widget with Coming Events as soon as I figure this one out.
