• I can’t get BackWPup to work due to an error that says that a couple folders can’t be created. I went to the directory and created the folder with 777 permissions. Still didn’t work. I changed the destination for the backup to be on Dropbox and tried again. Still nothing. I searched the forum and google and only found instructions to do what I’ve already done. Can someone help? Thanks.

    Here is the error message:
    Cannot create folder: /backwpup-a61f8e-temp

    Cannot create folder: /home/.wolfgang/ocgupodcast/podcast.overcominggoingunder.com/wp-content/uploads/backwpup-a61f8e-logs

    any ideas?

I had the same problem. Check out this post – resolved it.

Thanks. I read that thread but still not sure what to do. My issues seems a bit different.

I changed the log location to “…/wp-content/uploads/backwpup-a61f8e-logs/” but it still added this extra stuff “/home/ocgupodcast/podcast.overcominggoingunder.com/…/wp-content/uploads/backwpup-a61f8e-logs/” but the error for the logs went away when I tried it again so maybe that’s ok.

Unfortunately the first part of the error “Cannot create folder: /backwpup-a61f8e-temp” is still causing it to error out.

I’m not sure where to put that folder. Looks like it’s at the top level but I’m not sure. I tried a couple places with no luck.

I think I’m going to need to abandon this plugin and find another way to back my sites up. Unless I can get a clear answer here that is. Thanks for you help.

    The same problem here:
    – I can change the folder for the logs to the right value, however, the place of the temp folder cannot be changed, and it starts from the root, which is impossible. Did anyone find any solution? Thanks!

The reason why I run into this problem is that I moved the site to a different server, and the logs, backups and temp paths of BackWPUp are absolute – consequently they have to be changed. But there is no way to change the temp path. In this case the solution is easy:
    – delete and reinstall the plugin (it may not be necessary, but who knows…)
    – browse the table wp_options in the database and change _all_ the references to the absolute path on the old server to the absolute path on the new server
Why is it so, who knows…
