Cannot determine blog url

I have just installed WordPress in a subdirectory of my website. However, the little link to the blog at the top of my WordPress administrative page takes my to the homepage of my website, but I don’t understand why it would do this given the location that the blog is supposed to be in (www.mysite.com/blog)

This is how & where I installed WordPress, hope this will help someone to help me

Here’s what I did, following along via the codex:
1) downloaded WP
2) created my database via phpmyAdmin on the host’s web server
3) setup wp-config.php via text editor
4) ftp’d the WordPress files up. Changed the name of the wordpress folder to blog before uploading as the codex suggests when installing in a subdirectory. This also prevents confusion because I already have a “wordpress” folder in the root, which runs another blog which I have in a separate aliased domain.
5) ran the install, which was successful

Attempted to log in, got 501 error.

Went to login trouble page and did all the steps there. This fixed my problem and I was able to log in. So I went and posted a test post. But I have no idea where it went…

Here is where may be the problem:
As part of following along thru the Login_Trouble page, I changed the site_URL thru phpmyAdmin
original was https://mysite.com/?step=2
new is https://www.mysite.com/blog. Also changed the home field in wpoptions to the same, per the instructions. Have redone this with and without the www, just in case, doesn’t work either way.

Will be glad to provide more info on system setup, etc, but not sure what you may need.
