Cannot disable auto update
-
WordPress 5.5 core provides for auto updates. It is supposed to default to disabled. This plugin not only defaults to enabled, but it refuses to be disabled.
There are solid cases to be made for using manual updates, including hands-on review of what to update, the ability to create a backup before updating, and the ability to immediately review the impact of the update on the site.
The WP backend interface provides for disabling auto updates. This plugin refuses to comply.
The plugin author’s top post “DO NOT POST ISSUES HERE! (Please Read)” points to another place to post issues. I looked there. It is completely off target for an issue like this.
Unless it is cited as a serious security issue, I generally do not install updates that are less than 1 day old. I had, in fact, just looked at my site’s backend and saw that a brand new update was available. I opted to not install it yet. About 15 minutes later I received an email notification that the plugin had updated itself.
THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR.
