Hey @upclickdigital
So we created a test site with WordPress 5.7.2, and the latest versions of Elementor and Yoast Duplicate Post as the only 2 plugins enabled.
We then went to Settings > Duplicate Post > Permissions > Enable for these post types and ensured that ‘My templates’ was selected and saved the changes.
Then we went to Templates > Saved templates and created a new Elementor template and made sure that the template type was set to ‘section’, added a bit of content, and then published it.
Then we tried to use the ‘clone’ feature for that section template, and we do see that the type changed to ‘page’ for the draft that was cloned, instead of retaining the ‘section’ type. Please see – https://snipboard.io/yiAXBm.jpg
