    Hi there!

I just wanted to report an issue with Yoast Duplicate Post that impacts Elementor items (Posts, Templates, Pages, etc… But primarily the templates).

It does not seem to properly duplicate templates, and when duplicating a template, it changes the item type to single post, which in turn breaks the template.

Would love for Yoast Duplicate Post to have an integration that works, with Elemtor.

Let me know if that all makes sense. Happy to provide additional context if needed.

  • Hi @upclickdigital,

We created a new Elementor template and found that the clone appeared under Templates and had the same post type as the original.

Could you give us more details about how to reproduce the problem or examples of what’s happening on your site? That will help us investigate the issue.

Are you using the latest version of the free Elementor or do you also have Elementor Pro installed?

    Hi Priscilla!

I just created duplicated a saved template by going to Elementor>Templates, then duplicating a Section template, and when duplicated it was the Page type, and am unable to change that.

Latest versions of all plugins, WP Core, etc.

    Hey @upclickdigital

So we created a test site with WordPress 5.7.2, and the latest versions of Elementor and Yoast Duplicate Post as the only 2 plugins enabled.

We then went to Settings > Duplicate Post > Permissions > Enable for these post types and ensured that ‘My templates’ was selected and saved the changes.

Then we went to Templates > Saved templates and created a new Elementor template and made sure that the template type was set to ‘section’, added a bit of content, and then published it.

Then we tried to use the ‘clone’ feature for that section template, and we do see that the type changed to ‘page’ for the draft that was cloned, instead of retaining the ‘section’ type. Please see – https://snipboard.io/yiAXBm.jpg

Are we understanding the steps to reproduce this issue correctly?

If so, thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.

We apologize?for the trouble you are currently experiencing with our plugin. Luckily, a so-called “bug report” (a description of the issue, so we can fix it) is filed already.

    What’s next?

Not the original poster, but struggling with the same issue of Cloned Elementor templates turning into Pages instead of sections.

I see this topic is now 5 months old.

Is there any update on resolving this issue?

    Thank you

    Hi all,

The issue is still open in our internal repository regarding this issue where cloning a template resulted in a change from the template type of ‘section’ to ‘page’.

We don’t have an estimate as to when this would be addressed, but I’ll try following up with our developers on this topic. Thank you for your patience.
