Cannot edit change author when editing blog posts with Word Press 3.2.4

I just downloaded the most recent verion of Word Press 3.2.4 and when I go to edit posts now, I cannot change the “author” from the edit screen. Whenever I click on the pulldown to select an “Author” on the edit screen to list the different users, a Windows Internet Expolrer window pops up that says:

Stop running this script?
A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer
might become unresponsive.

Please help.
