• I had a problem with WordPress using OcenWP theme and Elementor. I couldn’t create new pages or new posts via Dashboard>>Pages>>Addnew. Instead of the page I am familiar with where you can decided to include header, title (i.e where you can clear the page of sidebar, blog entry areas etc so that Elementor has all the page to work with), I was taken to a completely blank white screen.
If I went to Dashboard>>Pages>>All Pages then, clicking on the EDIT link led me to a blank white screen, while clicking on the link “Edit with Elementor” still worked.

I followed advice on the internet, installed the latest Php, reinstalled WordPress on the Dashboard>>Updates page, deactivated all plugins but still no luck.

In the end I went for a completely fresh WP install, sacrificing all the work I had done in developing my site until then, no easy choice but there didn’t seem any alternative.
I reinstalled WordPress, set up the databases on my webhost server, managed to log into my wordpress login page without a problem.

    BUT….
I reinstalled the OceanWP theme, and a plugin called Ocean Extras, along with Elementor, free version. I expected to be able to create new pages using the Dashboard>>Pages>>Addnew route but the problem is STILL THERE! I can’t make a new page because I just get sent to a completley blank screen.

So it isn’t the plugins, it isn’t the PHP!

Please tell me what has happened and what I can do to rebuild my website.

    Thank you.

I just checked “view page source” in Firefox for the blank page that loads when I try to make a new page and the code to create the page is there, all the markup, links etc are there but the page is not rendering.
The same is true in Opera browser.
Disabling addons in firefox doesn’t help.

i also get a white screen if i click on “exit to dashboard” when i am editing a page in elementor and I want to to return to the dashboard.

i would be very grateful for some insight that goes beyond “deactivate plugins, update PhP, reinstall WP”

Install theme Oceanwp, Install Ocean extra, install plugin elementor.

It should be noted, again, that you don’t necessarily need to install a demo. You can design and build your very own website with WordPress, OceanWP, and Elementor alone. We’ll get to that in a bit. Importing a demo simply cuts out the process of having to come up with and build your own layout.

Import demo Ocean or importing an Elementor Template or create your layout with Elementor

Thanks for trying to help but it seems I was misunderstood.
I CAN create new pages with elementor, elementor IS NOT the problem.
The problem is wordpress, the problem is that I cannot create new pages via Dashboard>>Pages>>NewPage and therefore I cannot make a page where I can remove the elements that the OceanWP theme automatically inserts, like sidebar, title, top bar etc.

That function was working perfectly until a few days ago.

I have tried some of the suggestions here, I put the wordpress installation in a sub directory of the root folder, instead of the root folder. The problem persists.

I always had Elementor set up to “switch loader editor method” set to enabled.

I cannot edit in Elementor unless I first can access the OceanWP settings for the page, only then can I turn off the elements that OCeanWP inserts (even editing the OceanWP theme won’t stop these “compulsory” elements being added).
When you edit in Elementor it does seem that you are editing on a blank canvas (you can make the side bar and title go away) but when you view the page you have been working on then you see that the compulsory OceanWP elements are still there and the Elementor insert (template or whatever) is confined to a container.

Quite simply there is no getting around this, I cannot develop my site until I can create or edit a page through Dashboard>>Pages>>New Page or by clicking on the EDIT link on the page where the existing pages are listed.
These functions WERE working perfectly, it was designed to work that way, that’s even the route that the Elementor doumentation tells you to go. But now it just gives me a white page.

I don’t need to learn how to create a website with Elementor, I had one up and running!

It almost seems like there is some kind of block from the WordPress organisation.
