We discovered today that with the plugin active, we cannot access(edit, open or create) any posts in the admin of our WordPress site. If we deactivate the plugin we can access our posts.

With plugin active our site is accessible and we use the admin – we just cannot work with our posts.

The plugin is updated. We currently have the plugin deactivated to avoid issues.

  • Just found the same issue on my site. It runs on the Hello Elementor theme and uses the Elemntor page builder. After disabling all plugins and re-enabling them on-by-one, The Yoast Duplicate Posts plugin was the one casuing the issue.

When I try to edit a page, the page times out with a 502 error. When I disable this plugin, I can edit pages just fine.

We actually get a scary “Critical error…” message.

Hopefully they see this and investigate. I sent it to them but they said they don’t do direct support for the free plugin

A “Critical error…” message may actually be more helpful since you may be able to see the error(s) in your server error logs or wp_debug logs.

I’m just getting a 502 error, so I’m not seeing any errors in my logs.

I did more testing and found that on my site there seems to be a conflict with these 3 plugins: Yoast Duplicate Post, Pods, and Essential Grid. If those are the only 3 plugins active, I see the error. If I disable any one of those 3, I do not get the error. Strange, but hopefully helpful to the plugin author.

Well, that’s pretty wild – we have those three plugins on our site.

I’ve been looking at getting rid of Pods since we don’t really need it anymore. I’ve deactivated it and reactivated Yoast Duplicate Posts and things appear to be working. Essential Grid is ‘essential’ to our site and Yoast Duplicate Posts is more important.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Hi @bydesigndm

We’re sorry to hear about this issue that you’re unable to access the posts with the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin enabled.

Could you check if you have the latest version of WordPress 5.8.2, Yoast Duplicate Post 4.3, and the latest version of your other plugins and themes? If not, please do update and see if this helps with the issue.

You’ve mentioned that you receive a critical error when you try to access your posts and pages. Would it be possible for you to provide more information (via uploading a screenshot on snipboard.io or a similar website) of any relevant error messages that you are receiving? If you could check your server’s error log and provide the specific error message, this would be helpful.

Also, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

We recommend starting out with a default WP theme such as TwentyTwenty and only the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin enabled, and then start by enabling your preferred theme, and then your plugins, one-by-one, until you are able to reproduce the issue and identify the conflicting plugin or theme.

    Hi @imfromio

We are sorry you’re having a similar issue. Please open a new request. That way it’s easier to track issues and provide assistance. Thanks!

We did do some conflict testing and discovered that the Pods plugin (for custom post types) seemed to be the offending plugin. As mentioned above this is a plugin we don’t really need so we made adjustments and deleted it. Things seem to be working now.

    Hi,

We’re glad to hear you were able to locate the source of the conflict and address it accordingly.

We’ll be setting this forum thread to resolved. Please do feel free to open a new topic if you have any other issues with the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin.

    Thanks!

    Hi,
I am having the same issue (i am not using pods) it seems the new version is conflicting with a lot of third party plugins can we try get to the bottom of this instead of calling deactivating other plugins a resolve?

any idea what function is conflicting?

Also as a note i can still edit by using ‘Rewrite & Republish’ instead of edit

    Hey @make-web,
can you create a new thread for your problem? Please provide as much info as possible to allow us to reproduce the error.
