Cannot edit profile

Whenever any member goes to the membership-profile page to edit their details, when they try to update this message appears and the update is not done;
Please correct the following.
Password mismatch
This is when they do not want to change their password, and in the boxes ‘Password’ and ‘Repeat Password’, the first has their existing password (I assume) asterisked out, and the second has the text ‘Leave empty to keep the current password’ (which also appears in the first box if the asterisks are deleted). Are they actually meant to enter their current password again in both boxes or is this incorrect behaviour by, or an incorrect message in the Repeat Password box in the plugin? If the password is actually entered in the second box only the same error message appears, but if entered in both boxes the process works, so I am guessing the message is incorrect and should say something like ‘Please enter your password to update your details’ in both boxes. Please advise. In the meantime I am going to try to alter that message myself.
P.S. I have subsequently realised that the asterisks were my browser automatically filling in the password for me, and I think it was actually filling in the incorrect password, so this could explain the problem.
