Cannot edit whole meta title, just part of it??

    This is a new installation of The SEO Framework. I am a newbie to this. I have updated WordPress, theme and plugins before installing this. When trying to change the meta title in settings, only the very first part of the title is overwritten (Our Family Forest). The rest stays there and just adds to the counter. I did not have this problem with the meta description.

    Hello!

    Under the “Additions” tab you can alter/remove the extraneous title snippet.

    At the General Settings of WordPress, you may want to supply a more succinct tagline, too, leaving out the “Welcome” fluff.

    Thank you Sybre, not sure how I overlooked that checkbox. I went over the links that you shared and they were helpful.

    One last question, in the Robots Meta Settings > Indexing tab
    I have a few boxes checked, and I cannot remember if I did that myself before realizing that I didn’t need to do much of anything. Were the boxes meant to be marked?

    Apply noindex to
    Media, Formats, Date archives and Search pages.

    No problem!

    TSF comes preconfigured; most users wouldn’t ever have to adjust the settings.

    On most modern browsers, you should be able to discern recommended/default options from non-default: If the checkbox has a green border, it’s enabled by default on new sites. If the checkbox has a red border, it’s likely harmful and you shouldn’t even consider checking it unless you are an SEO expert.

    Those page-types you mentioned are deindexed by default to limit the amount of garbage WordPress sends to search engines. It definitely helps them to crawl your site more efficiently, but there’s some evidence that suggests it also helps with ranking.
