• I am working on a small WordPress based website for someone else. It had a lot of spam comments which I flagged as spam. There are now 96 sitting in the Spam folder. I want to delete them, but regardless of whether I use Firefox or Chrome and on Windows 8.1 or Linux, going into the Spam Folder page causes the browser to hang. At the bottom there can be a message saying “Waiting for [domain name]…”

    I log into:
    https://[domain name]/wp-admin/
    and going to:

    https://[domain name]/wp-admin/edit-comments.php?comment_status=spam

is the URL where it hangs. And it never comes back. Chrome will eventually give you the Kill or Wait buttons.

    Have you tried:
    – Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches. Also, any op cache or content network cache, as well as Cloudflare, clear those caches.
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, I don’t think I have administrator privileges. I don’t see anything about plug-ins or caches or themes. I will have to ask the owners of this business if they have access to the admin account. I believe they have severed ties with the person who set this up.
