    I have a site that has used TEC for years. We are now prepared to use the block editor for events, however, I cannot get it enabled.

    I have confirmed that “Activate Block Editor for Events” is checked but the Classic Editor still loads for Events. I have disabled all plugins, deleted all mu-plugins, activated Twenty Twenty, and de-activated / re-activated the plugin, but I still can’t load the block editor.

    Are there any other circumstances in which the Block Editor will not load with the setting to enable it turned on? I am completely flummoxed and have no idea how to further troubleshoot this.

    If it’s relevant, here are screenshots of my Events and Display settings and here’s a lightly redacted copy of the status report. The site is hosted on WP Engine, and I’ve now experienced this problem both on the live site and development site. A near-identical local copy of the site is correctly using the Block Editor after I enabled that for testing about 6 weeks ago.

    Site: WP Engine, WordPress 5.4.2, TEC 5.1.4, Twenty Twenty, No other plugins

    @jaimemarchwinski @eugenetribe In today’s changelog, I see:

    Fix – Correct block use checks around the Classic Editor plugin. [TEC-4099]

    That seems to be a different ticket number than the one mentioned in this thread, but I’m curious if that means this issue has been resolved.

    I have the same issue that @orion1s had, which I am not able to use block editor on my installation and I have had classic enable. Is there another ticket with a fix on this issue? It does not make sense to close a ticket for an issue that is still an issue.

    However, my site uses the Divi theme by Elegant Themes and I found a setting in that theme that allows you to disable the block editor. I was able to turn on the editor make the required changes and turn it off after creating the necessary code to insert the block in my site.

    @mrwweb This issue was marked as fixed in the following version of TEC: https://theeventscalendar.com/release-notes/the-events-calendar/the-events-calendar-5-9-2/

    @hiphopservers Are you able to reproduce the issue if temporarily switching to the Twenty Twenty theme? Just wondering if this could be a separate issue related to Divi.

    Otherwise, you can try deleting the classic editor options. Visit yoursite[.com]/wp-admin/options.php. Find the “classic-editor-replace” option, remove it’s value and save. Also, make sure the block editor is enabled in Events > Settings > General > “Activate Block Editor for Events”.

    Does that help?

    Since we haven’t heard from you in a while on this topic we will assume that the problem was fixed or is no longer applicable and with that I will mark this as resolved.

    If that is not the case, please let us know and we will gladly remove the “Resolved” tag and try to help you further. Or you can create a new topic with the problem if you prefer.

    Best,
    Sky
